Savalas
Their debut single “Today” reached playlists Belgium, leading them to sell out the Ancienne Belgique Club in Brussels before the full album was even released. The ball started rolling for them as they were asked to play practically all major summer festivals in Flanders (Marktrock, Suikerrock, Maanrock) hitting big stages (Handelsbeurs – Gent, Botanique – Brussels, a.o.) more than 40 times in Belgium only. Radio 1 had a the single in playlist for more than 6 months. Their debut video (starring Benelux celebrity Roos Van Acker) went to number 2 on the JIM’s TOP 30. Soon, The Netherlands was ready to be conquered. Decent airplay and a lot of press attention got them a publicity deal with Campina International for their Benelux “Milner Cheese” campaign where “Today” is used in a TV and Radio commercial, now running for the second year in Holland! Furthermore there music went literally ‘on-air’ as Swiss Airlines and South African Airlines programmed Savalas’ music on their international flights (on board radio). Reaching tens of thousand people in a couple of months worldwide. All this lead to deals in Germany, The Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland, also getting major airplay, radio and TV shows in these countries leading towards the Spring 2007 “Serendipity Tour” bringing them to these countries in a three weeks packed tour. During the summer of 2007 Savalas wrote new material for the follow-up album, due to be released on March, 10 – 2008 by V2 RECORDS. |
